There was also the custom of Fensterln. The church did not allow sex before marriage. But of course people weren't taking this too seriously.
If a boy liked a girl he couldn't just visit her at home. He would come at night with a ladder, climb up to the window of the girl and knock quietly. If she likes him, she would let him in. (If the parents awoke or someone had seen the boy, the ladder migh vanash once they enjoyed each other and the boy had run into trouble.)
Nowadays the custom of Fenstern is almost distinct. You neither have to meet anymore in the hay-barn to meet the other gender. As everywhere rules aren't as strict more and you can bring your boy-/girlfriend home openly.
